The municipality of Vysoký Újezd currently includes two other settlements, Kozolupy and Kuchař. In the past, the individual, separately functioning settlements did not require a large degree of integration and interconnection. Nowadays, however, due to the increase in population, and especially because of shared amenities such as schools, kindergartens, sports facilities, cultural and gastronomic facilities, etc., there is a need to bring the individual parts of the villages closer together and better connect them.
The only way to move between the parts of the village today is by car or bus. This is obviously not an ideal situation, and dependence on car or bus transport limits the comfort of getting to school and kindergarten or significantly reduces the frequency of opportunities for people from different parts of the village to meet at cultural and social events.
Also for this reason, the municipality, in cooperation with the settlement committee in Kuchar, has already started to take the first steps in the current electoral period for better pedestrian connections between all parts of the municipality. Currently, the construction of the first stage of the pedestrian path - the connection between Vysoký Újezd and Kuchař - is already underway. The trail is based on the original, historical dirt roads in the cadastre. It has been pruned, the topsoil has been raked and the supporting gravel layer has been poured. Currently, the trail is less than half finished - it starts in Kuchař in K Viadukt Street towards the field between Újezd and Kuchař. As soon as weather permits, construction will continue by connecting the trail to the existing roads and sidewalks at U Křížku. At the end of construction, new trees will be planted around the new path and LED solar lighting will be added. We expect to complete the "rough construction", i.e. laying the body of the trail itself, in time for the special elections.
The nature of the trail will allow for the migration of residents to visit other parts of the community, both for pedestrians and cyclists. Although it is not a full-fledged asphalt bike path, we believe that its sport and civic use will greatly advance the level of livability in the village and the opportunities for community building. Therefore, over the next few years we will also be looking to implement better pedestrian connections between Kozolupy and other parts of the village. In developing the concept, we will, as in the case of Kuchar, base it on the possibility of restoring the historic dirt roads and using material from the adjacent quarries, which is currently provided to the village free of charge to a sufficient extent.
We believe that these activities and investments in less critical infrastructure will also strengthen community life in our villages. For ŽIJME SPOLEČNĚ, these themes are an important part of moving towards a better functioning community and a better quality of life for us and our children.
